Sumeko Oy, part of the SGN Group, is also a shareholder in Suomiboats Oy.The Suomi44 and Suomi47 ranges are designed for cottage, fishing, and commuting use. As a guarantee of quality, the entire range comes with a 5-year hull warranty. The boats are equipped with Japanese Tohatsu outboard motors with the best 7-year warranty on the market.There is a permanent sales exhibition at the manufacturer's premises at Lylykoskentie 1, Joensuu. Browse offersThe use of the name Suomi in boat manufacturing and the roots of Suomi boat manufacturing date back decades. Since 1976, Suomi-veneet Oy, based in Kesälahti, has been manufacturing traditional fiberglass rowing boats and motorboats for Finnish boaters. At the beginning of 2023, Suomiboats Oy acquired the molds for motorboats from Suomi-veneet Oy and began manufacturing them. Following the sale, Suomi-veneet Oy focused on manufacturing Suomi rowing boats and other contract manufacturing.
In 2024, Suomiboats Oy and Sumeko Oy, an importer of Tohatsu outboard motors and part of the SGN Group, signed a supply agreement for the delivery of outboard motors to Suomiboats Oy. As part of the supply agreement, Sumeko Oy acquired a minority stake in Suomiboats Oy.
Today, Suomiboats Oy manufactures the Finnish Suomi44 and Suomi47 motorboat models, which are designed for cottage, fishing, and commuting use in the lakes of Finland. The boats are largely handcrafted from fiberglass and use raw materials and equipment that meet strict quality criteria.
